Our History

Impact Family Services has been supporting families for almost 40 years, and with our learned experience and ambitious leadership we are well placed to work with families in the years to come.

We began its life as a small charity in Sunderland and South Tyneside and was known then as Sunderland and South Tyneside Family Mediation Service, at that time we offered support to separated parents who were experiencing conflict and disagreement regarding child contact arrangements.

Over time our organisation increased its knowledge, skills and expertise in the multi complexities of couple relationships and family breakdown; and accordingly we changed our name to Impact Family Services to better reflect the work that we delivered.

Today we are proud to be able to offer a variety of services to individuals and families across the North East of England. Our services include; specialist domestic abuse support services for men and women, child contact services, bespoke children's work and a number of behaviour change programmes.

Impact Family Services continues to strive to support children and adults to have healthy relationships that enable them to make the most of life chances.

Importantly, our organisation seeks to bring about change within the communities that we work and we will continue to strive to deliver our services, and develop new ones, in ways that meet the needs of the children and families that use them.

When you nurture a family, you strengthen a community.
